Available Programs
Overland IOP offers structured outpatient mental health treatment at two levels of care — Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) — both available in-person at our Los Angeles facility and virtually through telehealth to serve patients across California. Our clinical team treats a wide range of conditions including anxiety, depression, PTSD, dual diagnosis, personality and mood disorders, complex trauma, and substance use disorders involving alcohol, opioids, methamphetamine, cocaine, and prescription drugs.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Overview: Our PHP provides a high level of clinical structure during the day while allowing patients to return home in the evening. It serves as a step-down from inpatient care or as an entry point for individuals whose symptoms require more intensive support than standard outpatient therapy. According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), structured therapeutic programs that combine multiple evidence-based modalities tend to produce stronger outcomes for complex mental health conditions.
Structure:
- 6 hours per day, 5 days per week
- Integrated treatment combining individual therapy, group therapy, and dedicated case management
- Whole-person care model including psychoeducational groups and holistic wellness programming
- On-site psychiatric evaluation and medication management as clinically indicated
Therapeutic Modalities:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Art Therapy
- Breathwork, Sound Bath, Yoga
- Acupuncture
- Physical Fitness
Goals:
- Stabilize acute psychiatric and behavioral symptoms
- Establish a continuous support structure throughout the treatment day
- Build core recovery skills and prepare for a smooth transition into IOP
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) recognizes partial hospitalization as an effective level of care for individuals experiencing moderate-to-severe mental health symptoms who do not require 24-hour residential supervision.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Overview: Overland’s IOP delivers consistent, clinically guided treatment in a flexible format designed for patients who have stabilized beyond PHP-level care but continue to benefit from regular therapeutic engagement. The program supports continued progress while allowing patients to maintain work, school, and family responsibilities. Research from the American Psychological Association (APA) confirms that ongoing structured therapy significantly reduces the risk of relapse and symptom recurrence across mood, anxiety, and substance use disorders.
Structure:
- 3 hours per day, 3–5 days per week
- Scheduling flexibility with morning, afternoon, and evening sessions — available in-person or via telehealth
- Blended approach of individual therapy, process and skills-based group therapy, and coordinated case management
- Holistic and psychoeducational programming alongside traditional clinical modalities
- Continued access to psychiatric care and medication oversight
Therapeutic Modalities:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Art Therapy
- Breathwork, Sound Bath, Yoga
- Acupuncture
- Physical Fitness
Goals:
- Strengthen and generalize coping skills to real-world environments
- Deepen emotional regulation and distress tolerance capabilities
- Sustain symptom reduction achieved during PHP or prior treatment
- Develop a personalized aftercare and relapse prevention plan for transition to weekly outpatient therapy
According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), IOPs are among the most effective outpatient treatment structures for individuals managing co-occurring mental health and substance use challenges.
